Here’s a panorama picture taken looking outside the window of the spare bedroom in my apartment. Lots of snow out there!

Snowy Day in Platteville

Yep, it’s a good day to stay indoors. Cookies, cocoa, and some packing. :\

Snow Day

It’s snowing again today. Lots of white stuff in the air and on the ground. We’re under a ‘heavy snow warning’ until midnight tonight. I guess that means up to 6″ is predicted to fall on us. At this rate we’ll have a white Christmas. ) Would be the first really white Christmas since I’ve been here. That makes me happy. D

I got all the baking done. I might put together a batch of chocolate chip cookies and maybe even another date nut bread. Not today though. I also got the cards done and out in the mail. I gave away or mailed away all the goodies. That was fun. Heather was over on Sunday and we cranked out 4 batches of cookies and one Hawaiian Christmas bread. She had fun… so did I. )

Now that all the required holiday baking and cards are done, it’s time to start packing. I keep procrastinating on that issue. Not sure why. I finally told myself that I’d get to it as soon as the baking and cards were done. So here it is, the day after cards and baking done, and I have to start on the packing. The snow makes it look so pretty out there, I find myself sitting in bed and staring out the window instead. I guess I’ll start on stuff once I’m out of bed.

But first… coffee. mmmmmmm D

Christmas Theme

I finally found a WordPress Christmas theme. YAY! I’ve set it as the default theme. It is in the theme switcher too (click on “christmas4″). I actually found 5 Christmas themes, but liked this one best. Happy Holidays!

Let the packing begin!

It’s time to start boxing up my stuff. I’ll keep plugging away at it over the next 4 weeks, because I want to take it ALL with me (well most of it anyway hehe) and I’m doing this with no help. So I’ll need all the time I can get.

Here’s a picture of my Christmas tree. Finally done, finishing touches went on Saturday.

Christmas Tree

We got quite a bit of snow between Friday and Saturday. I know I was worried about Brian driving around out there in the mess. He seems to be getting a handle on winter driving. Heather says Paul calls it “a series of controlled slides” or something li’dat. I know I’ll be glad when I don’t have to scoop snow off my van anymore. Hooray for garages! My new apartment has one.

Brian and Jason found a small house they want to rent. It’s not too far from here, over by the Armory. Two bedrooms, and reasonable rent. I hope he’s not biting off more than he can chew. They want to be moved in shortly after Christmas. Which would work out good, cuz then I can use his room to stack boxes.

Heather was over yesterday, so we went to Dubuque. It was fun to be in the holiday shopping crowd again. Santa in the mall with kids on his knee and a photographer on hand. Trees, lights, all the holiday decorations. Nice thing about Dbq not being a big city, the crowds weren’t huge, the lines at the check out weren’t too long. After shopping, we made dinner and even the boy came home in time for some. I’m working on cleaning out the fridge and freezer. So we had potstickers, egg rolls, rice, and egg drop soup that Heather bought at Asian Cafe. It was yummy. Always nice to have dinner with both of my kids. D

I’ma gonna get this day started soon… so I’ma gonna end this post now. hehe )

Moving again

The DVR meeting went very well yesterday. My IPE (Individual Plan for Employment) has been modified. Jules added in the rent/SD and moving expenses. I’m going to buy a new suit so I’ll have 2 different ones to wear while working with clients. I guess I should start packing. )

I set up my Christmas tree the other day. I’m slowly decorating it. Got most of the ornaments on, all the lights. I still have to put the Star Trek ornaments on, so that will be today’s task. Finish it up with silver glittery things, and white pearl beads. Should look pretty. )

I’m a bit foggy this morning, probably from the wine last night. It’s not foggy outside, just inside my head. It has been snowing lately, so we have about an inch or two maybe three on the ground. Looks like it might be a white Christmas this year. That would be cool.

Brian is beginning his search for a suitable place to live. He has Jason as a roomie. I hope they get their living situation settled before I actually leave Platteville. I’m sure gonna miss that boy! I hope he will come visit me in Hartford. I know Heather will. ) We have new shopping territory to explore!

I’m going with Heather in a couple weeks to see Carthage College. She says they have really great music programs, and wants to visit the campus. She’s also going to try for a Feb. audition again at UW Madison. She’s getting lessons from one of the instructors there, and he thinks with some polish and finesse, she will be ready. I think so too. She was a bit rusty, I think, on this last audition. Been awhile since she was performing. So we’ll keep good thoughts and wish her success in the next audition.

I have to drink coffee, find tylenol, and eventually start this day. Stuff to do, places to go, da kine. Buh Bye
