Back around to Saturday again!
What a week! I had a really great birthday, thanks to everyone! I’m gonna get my kitties soon thanks to Laura, Vince, Neil, Susan, Michelle, and their families, and Heather and Brian; the kids sent me some beautiful flowers that I received at work (what a surprise!); my honey gave me a Nikon 35mm. camera… Mom and Dad picked out a very pretty, sentimental card which I have standing on my entertainment center right now… *whew* it was a fun birthday!
Wednesday I went out to Washington County Humane Society with Ryan, a co-worker who is also thinking about getting another cat. They had some cute kitties but they all seem to have problems…
Two who were older, but had special diet needs. One had recurring UTI’s, the other had bladder stones. Then there were several who had to be “only” cats (I really want 2 cats). The others had litter box issues, and I can’t deal with a cat who won’t use the litter box. There was also 2 kittens, but they were very shy, fearful kittens who hissed at me when I tried to pet them. It’s a small shelter, and they really don’t have a lot of cats there, which is probably a good thing.
Thursday was pretty awful. I mangled my ankle at work in the bathroom. It’s hard to describe what happened. Somehow my wheelchair got caught on something, which shifted my purse in my lap, which pressed on my arm, forcing it forward against the joystick, which drove my chair suddenly and very fast into the wall while I was trying to turn around and back into the handicap stall. In the process of driving into the wall, my ankle got twisted mashed and jammed under the stall door and against the wall. My toes were bent all weird ways but they do that naturally. The bad part was my ankle. I was afraid I broke something in there. It had this big huge dent in it where the door dug in, and it was all black and purple and swelling up pretty fast. After I stopped freaking out I tried to walk on it but it really hurt. SO… off to tell Lynn the lady in charge of the config. analysts who contacted HR and then a bunch of people were hanging around my cubicle, getting ice and trying to decide the best way to get me to the emergency room. Thankfully I convniced them I didn’t need an ambulance. Somebody drove me in, somebody from HR stayed with me while I was there, it was a relatively fast trip to ER, and then back to work to pick up my chair and my van and go home. Nothing broke, thankfully. The entire episode just left me feeling stupid and silly (and very very sore). Yep, I crashed into the wall in the bathroom and managed to mangle my ankle in the process. DOH!
Felt good enough to go back to work yesterday. Stupid ankle still hurts though. So does my hip and knee from trying to hold my ankle in a position that I could put ice on it. Bleah. It was a short day for me though, as Fridays are early-leave days and I’m out of there at 3:30. Yay! Last nite I wasted away in margarita-ville. I guess not too wasted, because I’m up and typing at 7:30a.m.
Today I’m going to Madison’s animal shelter to see some kitties that Heather found. Brian and Sydney are coming up and we’re all going out for sushi this afternoon. First things first… I have to do some BBHS work and get to the bank with a deposit so I can pay the pet security deposit to my landlord ASAP. Just thinking about having cats makes me feel good. I hope I can find some great kitties at the shelter!
If I come home with cats, I’ll be posting pictures tomorrow.
Laterz…………..
