View of the moon

From my bedroom window, I get this awesome view of the moon rising when it isn’t cloudy:

Moon Rising - view from my window

It’s pretty cool. I wonder where the moon will come up as the seasons change.

Today it was over 80 degrees, sunny warm and breezy. A perfectly awesome day! I can only hope that Sunday will be just as nice. The kids are both coming out Saturday night, and we’ll have a nice breakfast Sunday morning. Then the plan is to go out to a lighthouse on Lake Michigan, just north of Milwaukee. I want to get some pictures with the new 35mm. camera my sweety sent me for a birthday gift. ) After that we’re going to roast a leg of lamb and have a big dinner. As usual it will be REALLY nice to have both kids here. I’m going to get as much of this time as I can while Brian is still here. )

It’s late, and I have to zzzzzzzzz… Been up since 5:30am. Gnite for now…………. D

Warm weather, open windows

It’s past 10pm and the temperature is still 66 degrees. I’ve opened my window to let in the cool night air. It’s weird though. I’ve lived next to the university for so long that I got used to, even enjoyed, hearing the sounds of life going by my windows. Folks sitting on their front porches and lawns, students walking back and forth between downtown and their houses… everybody talking and laughing and seeming to be having a good time.

All is quiet out there. I have a nice breeze blowing across and I can see the lights on Sumner St. but there’s no activity level out there. This time of year, not even crickets. I think I sorta miss that. Yeah yeah, I’ll get used to it. When I used to hear those drunken students walking home at 3am, I wished for quiet. I’m sure in time I will grow to appreciate a relatively noise-free night. When it’s cold enough to keep the windows closed up tight, it doesn’t matter.

I had a good week last week, with Friday ending in my configuring 2 pay policies (rules) on my own, start to finish, and they both worked correctly! That felt really good. But then we discovered that we had never been given the ‘updated’ timeline for this project. So now our time to totally configure this system has been cut from 4 weeks to 2. UGH! Well I’ll do the best I can. I spent 2 hours tonight setting up 2 more rules, and they seem to be working ok as well. Tomorrow I’ll tackle a new rule that I haven’t tried yet. We’ll see how that goes. I also did part 2 of my ‘C1 Presentation’ today. That actually went well. I’m noticeably more comfortable with the subject material. I have a better understanding of how things work. This is all good. )

I am eager to see what my yard and this community and city look like when trees sprout leaves and flowers start blooming. I can see older folks sitting out on their porch swings now that the weather is warming up. I saw some kids playing outside today, and yesterday a couple walking a lovely Brittany Spaniel through the yard. I think in time I will appreciate seeing folks out there when I’m awake, and I’ll appreciate the quiet at night. But right now, silence is just a bit unsettling. *sigh*

I’m still wired from working tonight but it’s getting time to try for some zzz’s. I’ll probably be working from home for the next 2 weeks’ worth of evenings, just to meet this deadline. Who knows, maybe it will get me noticed. At the very least I will learn a LOT. )

Gonna go to bed………zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Picture of Food

Lemon Chicken for dinner tonight. Hard to imagine this is only half of the boneless, skinless chicken breast that I pounded thin before cooking. (I froze the other half!)

Lemon Chicken

I’m thinking about driving out to Platteville tomorrow but not sure I’m gonna yet… Just thinking about it. I guess I’ll see how I feel tomorrow when I get up.

Till then… zzzzzzzzz )

Comments being spammed

Yesterday I got about 15 spam comments from the same spammer, same comment every time. I deleted them and then turned on “register to add a comment”. So for now if anybody wants to place a comment on the entries here, you’ll have to register first. ( I really didn’t wanna do it, but I knew the spammers would eventually find my lil blog, and now that they have I doubt it will stop. *sigh*

I like my spam better from a can, fried up with teriyaki sauce and pressed into a musubi.

It’s been a great week and I’ll post more about it later, or tomorrow.

Maybe rain today?

Did you remember to set your clocks forward last night?

They’re calling for rain, storms, maybe even severe thunderstorms for today. That would be sooo cool, to be able to watch it for a change. Usually the storms hit at night and I sleep through them. We’ll see what the day brings.

I had a very odd dream last night. I dreamed I was working at Lands’ End again, but it was totally different than when I was there this summer. I was having a helluva time getting around in my wheelchair. Everywhere I went there were narrow aisles, bumps and steps, roads and traffic, it was weird. I was in a crosswalk, and the traffic going one way stopped so I got half way across the road but the traffic going the other way wouldn’t stop. When I finally got across the road I hit a big mound of dirt somehow, went flying up in the air, and when I came back down, one of my drive wheels had come off the chair. Then suddenly a policeman was there. He reached under the seat and turned some sort of handle and my whole chair fell apart. He said he was going to fix it for me, he knew exactly how to do this too. Odd. When I finally got back to my desk, it was like a classroom setting. Some folks were taking a test, some folks were reviewing the results of a test they took. There were a bunch of people dressed up as graduates, in black caps and gowns, walking around outside of the room. Strange. I mostly remember being very frustrated trying to make my way around in my wheelchair.

Brian got a disturbing letter from the Defense Department saying something like he was rejected for the position he had applied for, and could re-apply in 45 days. I need to either see that letter, or have him read it word-for-word to me because I don’t know exactly what it means. He is very unhappy right now. He needs to call his recruiter ASAP tomorrow and sort this out.

I spent yesterday cleaning my apartment. The only thing I have left to do is vaccuum. But my back hurts a lot now so I think I will put that off awhile. The kitchen sure looks clean! I moved the birds to the end of the hallway, right next to my bedroom door. They were in the dining area but the seed shells and feathers tend to get everywhere and I don’t like that at the table. I had them in the guest room but didn’t like them being that far away. I think I’ve settled on a reasonable situation now. They’re in sight whether I’m in my room or in the living room (well somewhat). At least they’re not tucked away in a room now. Or shedding feathers on the table. )

Now that I finally figured out how to remote-desktop to my computer at work, I can work from home. This is pretty cool. Maybe now when I have UPS packages being delivered, I’ll be able to stay home half the day and wait for ‘em myself. D I’m going to do some stuff for myself for work today, like making a timeline of what I need to do to get my first database up and running on time. Yes, I have a deadline! It has to be ready to ship by May 15th. I guess other analysts have their own ways of putting tasks into a timeline. Some use Outlook, which I’m sorta leaning towards… But I’ll try this spreadsheet approach first. I have a few other things to do to the Summary report also. Will be sorta nice to do stuff from home now that I’m better understanding what it is I have to do.

But for now I’m going to sit and watch the sky. I hope it rains soon, and good!

New Themes

I added 2 new themes this morning. One’s called “Refresh” and I like it because it makes me think of springtime. The other one is called “The Beauty Within” and I like it but have to change that header image so it says something about Profoundness. hehe )

I have an ambitious weekend planned, cleaning, working n things li’dat. I even have a list or two. Let’s see if that inspires me to check things off the list and get stuff done!

More later………
