Happy Mother’s Day!
It’s supposed to rain today, so I’m glad Heather and I went out yesterday. We had a very nice afternoon. My camera’s battery was dead, so no pictures…Â
Â
We started with a trip to the farmer’s market downtown. It is still early in the season so there weren’t too many vendors there. But we got some lettuce for the ig, basil and parsley plants, and had a yummy strawberry Italian soda. Then we walked around downtown, checking out the shops up and down Main St. After that, we drove over to Pike Lake and took a walk along the shore and down a hiking trail. The weather was very nice. I even got some sun on my shoulders.Â
Heather bought me a Mom’s Day gardenia corsage. It smells wonderful! I wore it alllllll day long. Now it’s sitting on my nightstand and I can still smell it. Thanks, Heather!
Brian phoned me this morning to wish me a Happy Mother’s Day. He woke me up, but that’s good because it was already 8:30. I don’t remember the last time I slept past 7! It was good to hear his voice, as always. He couldn’t talk long because he had to go to work. Some inspection coming up, they have to get their shop ready. Such is life in the Marine Corps…Â
I think today I will do my laundry. I also want to set up my Tivo/VCR/TV to watch one program while recording another, and to transfer programs to my VCR. This way I can get all those LOST episodes off the Tivo.Â
Heather wants to take me out for dinner to the Pike Lake House restaurant tonight. She even made a reservation.Â
I really needed these two days “off” to rejuvenate and re-center myself. I’ve been working so much lately it seems like I’m not doing anything fun anymore. I’ve also managed to totally neglect my apartment, my plants, my birds, and that huge pile of laundry. I know it’s Mother’s Day, and the family also got together yesterday to celebrate JR’s 1st Communion, but I have been feeling so exhausted I just couldn’t make myself do that drive to join in the fun. I really needed this down-time. I hope they all understand. I will call mom today, though!
I’ve added a del.icio.us widget to my sidebar, way down at the end. It’s a cool lil thing that lets me manage and display bookmarks. I’ve also added several new themes. These are the kinds of things I really enjoy doing, sitting in bed on a Saturday or Sunday morning. I’ve really missed this sort of time! The past 3 weekends, plus several evenings during the week, I’ve been working on stuff related to the client I have in Seattle. The guy I work with is darn picky! Ok maybe the PC term is ‘detail-oriented’. Blah.Â
I’ll be out of here next week, going back for my last trip to Gila Regional in New Mexico. It will be my second solo trip. Gosh, I feel so grown-up! hehehe June, July, and August will be trips to Seattle. I’m looking forward to those. I want to see that fish market where they toss around the fishies.Â
Well, it’s time for more lazidity, and to watch the clouds roll in. I hope we get a good storm today. That would be awesome. For all the moms out there, enjoy this special day!
